About Us

At Ground Effects Landscaping, we believe a well-planned outdoor space should do more than look good. It should function well, hold up to the demands of the local climate, and support the way you live or operate your property every day. We provide professional exterior services for residential and commercial properties throughout the Greater Anchorage area, with a focus on landscaping, hardscaping, outdoor living features, grounds care, and snow removal. Our work is guided by practical knowledge, careful planning, and a commitment to building outdoor environments that are both attractive and dependable.
Built for Alaska Conditions
We understand that outdoor projects in Alaska require a different level of consideration. Freeze-thaw cycles, snow load, shifting soils, drainage challenges, heavy precipitation, and short construction seasons all influence how landscapes should be designed and installed. That is why we approach every property with long-term performance in mind. We do not see landscaping as a cosmetic upgrade alone. We see it as a system of surfaces, structures, grades, plantings, and seasonal services that must work together in demanding conditions. By accounting for local environmental factors from the start, we help create outdoor spaces that are easier to maintain, safer to use, and better prepared for year-round changes.
What We Do
We offer a broad range of services so our clients can work with one team across multiple phases of property improvement and care. Our capabilities include landscaping services such as design, grading, planting, hydroseeding, tree planting, tree removal, stump removal, and grounds maintenance. We also provide hardscaping solutions such as retaining walls, pavers, and rock gardens, along with outdoor living features like patios, decks, pergolas, fire pits, patio enclosures, and outdoor kitchens. In winter, we help keep properties accessible with residential and commercial snow removal, snow plowing, hauling, relocation, and ice management services. This full-service approach allows us to think more holistically about each site and recommend solutions that align with your property goals.
Our Approach to Landscaping
We believe successful landscaping starts with understanding how a property is used and how it behaves over time. Every site has its own opportunities and constraints, whether that means managing slope, improving drainage, creating more usable space, or enhancing curb appeal. Our role is to evaluate those conditions and help shape a plan that balances appearance, function, and durability. In many cases, the most effective solution is not just adding new features. It is improving the underlying structure of the landscape through grading, soil preparation, plant selection, and thoughtful layout. When we design and install landscape improvements, we focus on creating results that feel cohesive, practical, and appropriate for the environment.
Why Hardscaping Matters
Hardscaping plays an essential role in the performance of many outdoor spaces, especially in climates where erosion, runoff, and seasonal ground movement can affect the stability of a property. We view hardscape features as part of the structural foundation of a landscape. Retaining walls can help manage elevation changes and stabilize sloped terrain. Pavers can create durable, low-maintenance surfaces for circulation and gathering. Rock features can support drainage and define space while adding texture and visual interest. We place strong emphasis on proper base preparation, drainage planning, and material selection because the success of any hardscape installation depends on what happens beneath the surface as much as what is visible above it.
Outdoor Spaces with Purpose
We also help clients create outdoor living areas that improve the everyday use of their property. Patios, decks, pergolas, enclosures, and related features can extend usable space and create places for gathering, relaxation, and connection. For us, these projects are about more than adding amenities. They are about designing spaces that fit naturally with the property, support how the area will be used, and stand up to local conditions. A well-executed outdoor space should feel intentional, comfortable, and durable, with the right balance of structure and style.
Year-Round Property Support
Because exterior needs do not stop when the weather changes, we also provide winter services that help maintain access and safety throughout the season. Snow and ice can affect driveways, walkways, parking areas, and high-traffic zones quickly, especially during unpredictable weather and repeated freeze-thaw cycles. We offer snow removal and traction support to help homeowners, businesses, and property managers keep their sites more usable and manageable during winter conditions. This year-round perspective is an important part of how we serve clients. We are not only thinking about how a property looks during the growing season. We are also thinking about how it performs in the months that bring the greatest environmental stress.
Who We Serve
We work with both residential and commercial clients, and we understand that each property type comes with different priorities. Homeowners may be focused on beauty, function, and ease of maintenance. Commercial properties often require a greater emphasis on access, documentation, liability awareness, and reliable scheduling. Our experience across both environments allows us to scale recommendations to the site, the use case, and the expectations of the client. Whether the goal is improving a home landscape, supporting a facility, or maintaining a business property, we aim to provide solutions that are clear, appropriate, and professionally executed.
What Sets Us Apart
We are guided by a few core principles in the way we work: planning for local conditions; providing full-service support across seasons; communicating clearly about scope, timelines, and expectations; using high-quality materials and professional installation practices; and focusing on results that combine function, safety, and visual appeal. The site also highlights several practical differentiators, including being fully licensed and insured, using environmentally safe products, having a certified pesticide applicator, and bringing more than 30 years in business. These qualities reflect our belief that professional exterior work should be dependable, informed, and handled with care.
Our Commitment
At Ground Effects Landscaping, our goal is to be a trusted long-term partner for your property. We want to help you make informed decisions about your outdoor environment by recommending solutions that are grounded in site conditions, practical performance, and lasting value. Whether we are improving drainage, installing structural features, enhancing curb appeal, or helping maintain safe winter access, we approach each project with the same mindset: do the work thoughtfully, communicate clearly, and build results that serve the property well over time. That is what we believe the Ground Effects difference should be.

Ground Effects did a wonderful job of helping us finish our yard. We removed several rock beds from our yard and wanted to replace with grass. They were very prompt, reasonably priced, did wonderful work with grading and hydroseeding, and we have a beautiful yard to show for it. Highly recommend them.Posted on PeterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I think it’s a given that when a landscaper has completed a project, the work will look good. What is not a given is how long that appearance will last. Ground Effects stood out to me in their diligence addressing drainage and frost susceptible material. Where a previous landscaper had used dirt for similar work, Ground Effects used crushed gravel and compaction, where the previous landscaper had not used drainage tubing, Ground Effects used a lot, and where the previous landscaper didn’t use geotextile and geogrid it seemed Ground Effects covered everything exposed to dirt. The work of the previous landscaper quickly failed. The work Ground Effects did for me looks beautiful, and seeing how they did it leads me to believe it will continue to look that way for a long time.Posted on Sarah RobicheauxTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
